Hope of the day: True love is sacrificial. God teaches us that love is sacrificial, it is not self serving, in the same way that He sacrificed His son for us; in the same way that Jesus gave His own life for us; in the same way that mothers sacrifice their own needs to make sure their children have what they need; in the same way that nature sacrifices its own sustainability to supply us with all we need. Love is sacrificial. This is the type of love that empowers someone to jump in front of a bullet to save a loved one or to run into a blazing fire to save a life; putting our own needs to the side for a moment of meeting someone’s elses needs. Notice I said “moment” because you still need to come back to self and meet your own needs as well. So I’m not saying don’t love yourself while loving others, I’m saying love God, others and yourself. Even though God teaches us that love is sacrificial, He also commands us to love by first loving Him with all our hearts and soul and then loving our neighbors AS ourselves insinuating that we ought to love ourselves as well as others. God is IN us all and to love God is to love ourselves and to love others and in loving we ought to love selflessly. This is true love. #hope
